Skills assessment for National Adaptation Planning

With mounting scientific evidence of the impacts of climate change and as public awareness of climate change has increased, more sophisticated capacity development approaches are being embraced. These can make better sense of the complex mix of institutional measures needed for adaptation planning to be successful backed by well-tailored and recurrent skills development.
 
This skills assessment framework is derived from experience acquired during a joint UNDP-UNITAR Global Water Partnership mission carried out in Niger in May 2014, under the NAP-GSP.

NAP Country-Level Training

In response to the need for NAP support and capacity building, a NAP Country-Level Training Course has been developed to develop capacity for multi-sectoral involvement in the NAP process. This training aims to provide a general understanding of the conceptual approach of NAPs and the NAP technical guidelines, produced by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG).  The course is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

ALM-SGP Photo Story Toolkit - January 2011

Photo Stories are a powerful communication tool that can be used to bring innovative and visually appealing narratives of on-the-ground community projects. Communicating valuable information to a larger audience, Photo Stories offer a simple way compile individual photos in to a video format with captions, audio narration, background music and other features.

This Toolkit for creating Photo Stories benefited from the contributions from the Adaptation Learning Mechanism (ALM) and the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP).

The COP requested the LDC Expert Group (LEG) to elaborate technical guidelines for the NAP process based on the initial guidelines for the formulation of NAPs, and to arrange a review of these technical guidelines .

However, up to now there has been no published document that brings together the steps of CBA with an emphasis on the Pacific region. This guide is intended to fill that gap. It aims to support Pacific government and non-governmental organisations in their CBA activities, and to support training and capacity development in this area.
