Namibia's National Policy on Climate Change – September 2010
Namibia is a rare combination of being designated as a biodiversity hotspot while having a dry climate. This biodiversity contributes directly and indirectly towards generation of the country's GDP through tourism, food security, income generation, health improvements among others. The National Policy on Climate Change seeks to ensure the fulfillment of the national development goals in spite of the rise in climate variability and consequent impacts on the economy. While acknowledging the need for mitigation activities, this policy emphasizes the need for adaptation as the key response to climate change.
