Project Design Document for "Carbon Management Schemes for Rural Communities of Mt. Elgon, Uganda

Carbon Management Schemes for Rural Communities of Mount Elgon is an extension of the “Trees for Global Benefits” (TGB) project, which is a cooperative, community-based carbon offset project. The latter links small-scale farmers to voluntary carbon markets under the Plan Vivo system. The carbon management schemes project is an extension of TGB for communities in Mount Elgon region with the aim of studying the feasibility and design of a carbon sequestration scheme. This scheme will combine the benefits of voluntary emission reductions with rural-livelihoods improvement, while reducing pressure on land-based natural resources.
